Bird Description:
Gallus gallus, or Red Jungle fowl is a native to northeastern India, across southern China and into Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, each area claiming its own sub-species. They are believed to be the ancestors of the domestic chicken. The Red Jungle fowl has become a very popular gamebird with enthusiast being very particular about the sub-species that they raise. A good beginner bird as it reproduces easily and is fairly hardy. Care must be taken not to cross them with other Jungle fowl or domestic chickens.
